Math

In Math we continued learning about patterns, however we have moved onto Increasing patterns. 

Literacy UFLI - we continued our review of Digraphs

Northern Lights School's Tree of Reconciliation - Students answered the question "What do children deserve?"

Social Studies - We have been learning about Relative location and the Compass Rose

 

National Truth and Reconcilliation

September 30th is a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation meant to commemorate the history and legacy of Residential Schools in Canada. On Tuesday, September 29th, students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt or something else with orange to recognize Orange Shirt Day and the National Truth and Reconciliation Day. 

Students will be engaging in learning throughout the week to honor this important day. Through read alouds and learning tasks, students will focus on understanding what they each need to feel safe and cared for at school and to consider this question: “What action can each member of our school community do to make sure every student feels safe and cared for at school, everyday?” This is an opportunity for Northern Lights students and staff to come together in the spirit of reconciliation to show their support of a safe, respectful and caring school community.

 Today was the Terry Fox RUN!!

- Thank you for all of the donations to support Cancer Research!

Today we learned all about Terry Fox. We even set goals and learned about the Virtues that Terry Fox showed.

Reminders

- Tomorrow is the Terry Fox Run! Please make sure your child comes prepared in running shoes as we will be running/walking outside for 30 min. Also, please bring Toonies for Terry to support Cancer Research.

Literacy

UFLI - Today we focused on 'ck'. We learned that you can use 'ck' at the end of the word if you have a short vowel sound before. Like in back and clock.

 

Writing - we continued with our Draw to Write activities. We drew a fox today. Students have the choice to work with the class to create sentences or write them on their own. 

  

Math - In Math we learned about non-repeating patterns. We went outside and looked for patterns, took pictures of them and then drew them in our math book.
